Some coworking spaces have a different approach to building work environments and we have the perfect example for it. While in Paris, we visited VOLUMES which combines coworking, makerspace and foodlab in the same building.
Intrigued by the concept, we pushed the door of the space and met Wolf, the manager. Let’s have a closer look!
VOLUMES coworking, the story.
Started a few years ago in the north of Paris, its vision is to support multipotentialites in growing their businesses. In order to serve that crowd at best, the space could not have been just a coworking space or just a makerspace. Instead, the founding team built an ecosystem where the community of multi-talents can express themselves, try new things and find all the tools they need inside the same building.

Meet VOLUMES coworking
- What does the space looks like?
The best part is, they found the best location for it! Situated in the 19th area of Paris, which was historically the place where Artists used to have ateliers, their 500 sqm facility is flexible enough for members to build new things.
The space is organized around 3 pillars:
- The coworking area – where people can do their computer work
- The makerspace – where members can experiment with CNC machines, 3D printers, etc.
- The food lab – where startups or companies can experiment and build the food of tomorrow. You can have a look at the food lab by watching this short presentation of it:
The interior design of the space reflects a lot the vision for it: open, collaborative, dynamic and easy. White walls, wood, good furnitures and latest equipment are at members’ hand. The team at VOLUMES also organize workshops to support the community in experimenting with machines they might not have used before.
- What is the community like?
Diverse! From makers to creatives, from startups to freelancers – the pool of talent at VOLUMES is skillful. Wolf and his team have at heart to make people talk to each other. In order to do so, they organize many events from Ping-Pong tournaments to exhibitions or talks, everything is done for people to meet, discuss, bounce ideas and grow.
All and all, we were very impressed by the bond between members. We could feel, while chatting with Wolf and watching interactions that people knew each other really well and were also very open to each other.
- Something unique about VOLUMES coworking?
Their triangular approach combining several labs (working, making, cooking) into one space but also their garden, which is something quite rare in Paris!
