There is something I like very much about coworking spaces which is their ability to reinvent old buildings. The coworking space of today is a great illustration of that.
We visited a former bank. A former bank that is today home to a restaurant, an event venue (with several rooms) AND a coworking space named SoCentral. The name suits it perfectly. It is located in the heart of Oslo, a minute away from the shopping streets. To find the coworking space, go to the top floor of the building and meet Thomas and his team. SoCentral is focused on social projects and entrepreneurial activities. It started out to show how social challenges can be solved with economic sustainability.
The aim of SoCentral is to be the place where different actors from the social environment meet, connect and collaborate on concrete measures. The core community is composed of Businesses and Entrepreneurs who work on finding “solutions to tomorrow’s social challenges”. The incubator in-house helps those businesses with their social projects.
If you ever pass by SoCentral, have a look at the architecture inside. I love how the architects kept intact few pieces of the bank. Walking around the building and finding those made our overall experience memorable. You can also have a look at that video (in Norwegian) to understand better what SoCentral is all about.
Thank you Thomas for showing us around such an inspiring place!
