Meet Oslo’s first coworking space: MESH

4 years ago, Oslo has seen its very first coworking space rising. Founded by 2 young Norwegian entrepreneurs, it all started with 15 self-painted Ikea desks in 200 sqm space. Today, MESH grew and became The community driven place where the Creators’ of Norway meets. Chatting with Jennifer (Community manager at MESH) and Kriszti (one of the Co-Founder), we quickly saw the 3 biggest strength of MESH.

1/ The Community
We got quite amazed to see how big and diverse the MESH community is. There is space for everyone: Entrepreneur or Creative looking to work in an inspiring environment as well as more advanced startups who need first a place to grow and second a place to meet the like-minded individuals. The content going out of MESH is also very impressive. With more than 500 events a year, the place never stops being lively. Community Events, Concerts, Startup Weekends, Meetup, Yoga classes, Conferences, there is content from everyone. The Community needs the right space to gather, don’t worry MESH got you cover on that (which brings me to point 2 🙂 )

2 / The building
The first word that comes to my mind to describe it is WOW. I could also express it with an emoji: 😱
MESH is beautiful and centrally located. The cafe, where we worked for a little while during our 2 days in Oslo has an open roof. We were lucky enough to be there in Summer. We could enjoy a bit of Sun and delicious fresh coffee. On the upper floors, you will find the coworking area and the Event spaces (where you can also challenge your coworkers around a ping pong table). The building is quite big:  about 2.500 sqm. It looks a bit like a labyrinth, with open spaces here, closed offices there, communal areas, terrace and more. The interior design combines bricks, wood, high ceiling and a lot of cool items of furniture. There are several closed offices in between the 2 building which varies from 2 to 20 people. There is a good vibe at MESH. The kind of vibe that makes you feel comfortable and focused. The good news is, building wise, MESH does not plan to stop here, which brings me to point 3.

3/ The Future
MESH is not stopping here. Thanks to high demand, they are now entirely self-funded and it is today The major hub for tech-oriented activities. They have recently announced their expansion in the building next door, which will add 10,000 sqm more to the existing building. With both buildings combine MESH expects to have more than 800 Entrepreneurs in the house.

This is so inspiring to see how places like MESH found their magic recipe to transform an old building into one of the coolest places around the city to meet before, during or after work with your coworkers, your friends, or even your family. I am very much looking forward to seeing their new space opening as I am sure MESH will surprise us even more.

Special thank you to Jennifer and Kriszti who made our last visit in Olso memorable 🙌
